Exhibition – Continuity to Change: Recent History of American Abstraction

Tower Fine Arts Gallery

Continuity to Change is dedicated to the American artists who have devoted their professional creative activities to Abstraction, which evolved in a time when museums were more conservative in their offerings. Abstractions's impending impact on the art world, after the infamous New York City Armory Show of 1913, would be manifested by adventurous American artists exposed to the avant garde styles from Europe. This exhibition chronicles developments in various abstract movements in the United States at mid 20th century to the current day, and emphasizes the central tenets of the methodology: composition, color, content, and material.
